Digital site compliance, from the gate to the golden thread.
Inductions, RAMS, briefings, competency and attendance, captured on site and audit-ready. Crate turns your workforce compliance into structured evidence, built around the golden thread.

Four steps, one audit trail
Enrol and induct, before boots hit the ground.
Onboard every operative the compliant way
Enrol employees, agency and subcontractors by secure link or manual entry. A business induction brings them into the company first, then they are onboarded, ready for their site induction and to go to site.
- Right to work, CSCS and competency captured at source
- Unique UID and QR code generated per operative
- Employee passport viewable in the operative's own language
Brief and sign, without queueing for a tablet or a piece of paper.
Every briefing, captured and signed
DABs, toolbox talks, point of work briefings and RAMS, delivered and signed as structured records. Stored signatures apply automatically at attendance, so the workforce is briefed in seconds.
- Type-specific signing rules enforced automatically
- RAMS frozen on first signature, superseded on change
- Works offline, syncs when back in coverage
Prove presence, not just paperwork.
Attendance you can actually evidence
Two-scan QR attendance confirms who was on which site, and when. See all operatives, or which operatives are currently on site, with live attendance data.
- Two-scan rule confirms the operative was physically on site
- Full operative and employee views: on site now, or view all
- Sync your existing time and attendance solutions via our API
Report and hand over, cleanly.
Audit-ready records that feed the golden thread
One combined, versioned PDF snapshot per workflow, per site, per period, produced only when there is data to report. Nothing locked in, everything traceable.
- Frozen, versioned snapshots anchored to action date
- Clean, exportable records with no proprietary lock-in
- Full, tamper-evident audit trail

How is this different from the plant and waste modules?
It runs on the same Crate platform, offline app and reporting engine, but focuses on people rather than assets: inductions, RAMS, briefings, competency and attendance. Use it on its own or alongside your plant, fleet and waste modules.
Which devices does it run on?
Three pathways: a web app for managers and admins, a supervisor app for team leads on site, and an employee and operative passport that people use on their own phone.
Does it work offline on site?
Yes. Briefings, sign-ins and attendance are captured offline and sync automatically once the device is back in coverage, so basements, tunnels and remote sites are no problem.
Can I send notifications to my team?
Yes. Crate can send email notifications when an action is needed, a briefing is due or a site notice goes out, and dashboards flag what needs attention at a glance.
Can I assign actions and track them to close-out?
Yes. Issues, defects and observations can be raised, assigned to the right person and tracked through to close-out, with a full history held against each one.
Can my team manage their own records?
Agencies and subcontractors get a self-service portal to enrol and manage their own people, and operatives can view their own passport and QR code. For audit integrity, once a compliance record is submitted it cannot be edited by the operative; changes are limited to authorised admin users.
Does it handle agency and subcontractor workers?
Yes. Operative type, employee, agency or subcontractor, drives account creation and workflow access, so everyone on site is captured correctly.
Can I see who is on site right now?
Yes. Live attendance shows which operatives are currently on site, alongside a full view of all operatives across your sites.
Can operatives use it in their own language?
Yes. The operative passport supports each person's preferred language for briefings and inductions, so a briefing actually lands with the whole workforce.
Does it track competency and card expiry?
Yes. Competency and cards such as CSCS are tracked against each operative, with expiry visible so nobody works on an out-of-date qualification.
How does it handle RAMS versions?
RAMS are controlled documents. They freeze on the first signature, a change creates a superseding version under a new reference, and nothing is deleted, so the record of what each operative signed stays intact.
Does it support permits to work?
Yes. Crate runs a full permit-to-work workflow, from issue and acceptance through to close-out, with evidence captured along the way.
Can I capture photos and evidence?
Yes. Photos and evidence can be attached to briefings, permits and issues, and permit close-out can require a photo of the workspace before it is signed off.
Is there a site diary and issue register?
Yes. Site diaries capture the daily record of what happened on site, and the site issue register tracks tasks and issues through to close-out.
Can I export my records and reports?
Yes. Records export cleanly as versioned PDF snapshots and structured data, so nothing is locked in and you can hand information over whenever you need to.
How long are records kept?
Records are kept and stay available for audit and handover, and retention can be aligned to your own compliance requirements.
Does it integrate with our existing systems?
Yes. Crate connects to time and attendance systems via API, so your existing setup keeps working alongside it.
How quickly can we get set up?
Most teams are up and running quickly, with onboarding support to configure your sites, briefings and permissions. Book a demo and we'll map it to your operation.
